Palanta Langgam – Currently, there are still under-fives with cases of malnutrition and malnutrition in the city of Padang, because the handling of the problem of malnutrition and malnutrition has not been maximized.The most sufferers of malnutrition and malnutrition are children under the age of 2 years.Based on the survey conducted, it was found that toddlers belonging to the Orchid 2 Posyandu were malnourished and malnourished.Based on observations made door to door by the research team, the main cause of undernutrition and malnutrition in children under five at Posyandu Anggrek 2 is the lack of knowledge of mothers of children under five about the importance of nutritious food for toddler growth, health and immunity.In addition, the economic conditions of the family and the number of children also greatly affect the nutritional status of children under five.This prompted the research team from the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA and the Faculty of Pharmacy Unand to carry out the "Community Partnership Program (PKM) Posyandu Orchid 2 in Seberang Padang Village, South Padang District, Padang City".This program is a community service activity funded by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) Deputy for Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research and Technology / BRIN.This activity aims to improve the nutrition of toddlers belonging to the Anggrek 2 Posyandu and increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers about nutritious food and how to process food so as not to lose its nutrients.Provide knowledge about the benefits of Spirulina platensis as a high nutritional supplement.The team is chaired by Dr.Armini, MS.with members of Prof.Dr.Yetria Rilda (Chemistry-FMIPA) and Dr.Netti Suharti (Faculty of Pharmacy), and involved 2 students.The solution provided by the PKM team to overcome the problem of undernutrition and malnutrition is carried out in 2 forms of activity.The first is to provide Spirulina platensis capsules which are high nutritional supplements, accompanied by the provision of nutritious food menus to improve the nutritional status of toddlers from undernourished and poor nutrition to good nutrition and also increase the immunity of toddlers.The nutritional status of toddlers is determined based on the Anthropometric index (weight/age and height/age) to determine the nutritional status of toddlers referring to the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (SK MEMKES No: 1995/MENKES/SK/XI/2010).The second activity provides counseling which is given in 3 stages, namely counseling on COVID-19 socialization for the application of the COVID-19 protocol, being aware of symptoms, handling and increasing immunity during a pandemic, counseling on symptoms of malnutrition, nutritious food that can improve nutritional status and immunity, counseling on the benefits Spirulina platensis as a high nutritional supplement to improve nutrition and as a high antioxidant that can increase immunity in toddlers.This activity received a positive response and thanks from the mother of the toddler members of the Anggrek 2 Posyandu to the Unand PKM team for helping to overcome the problem of malnutrition and malnutrition in their child.Giving Spirulina platensis capsules has been able to improve the nutritional status of toddlers and counseling provides knowledge about nutrition and food and highly nutritious toddler menus, the benefits of Spirulina platensis, knowledge about COVID-19 and increasing family immunity.We, the PKM team, are very happy because this activity has been able to help the nutritional problems of toddlers at the Orchid 2 Posyandu in Sebarang Padang.The activity implementation team would like to thank for the positive response and support from the Head of the Sebarang Padang Health Center, dr.Desy Susanti and Puskesmas officers for Posyandu activities Rahmawati S.ST, M.Kes.The presence and contribution of partners, namely the Posyandu level team chaired by Roza Yusra and its members are very helpful in carrying out activities in the field.
